Title: To End a Presidency Pdf The Power of Impeachment
Author: Laurence Tribe
Published Date: 2018-05-22

"Brilliant...In their terrific, accessible, and thoughtful new book, To End a Presidency: The Power of Impeachment, the Harvard law professor Laurence Tribe and the constitutional lawyer Joshua Matz do better than offering a simple yes or no: they give us a framework for thinking about the question...To their great credit, Tribe and Matz didn't write a legal brief or a political strategy memo. They instead make clear to anyone even contemplating impeachment that the decision to end a presidency isn't simple or straightforward."―Guardian US"A learned, judicious, and surprisingly cautious study of the impeachment power...The clear-eyed and clear-thinking message of To End a Presidency deserves the widest audience. It is an aspirin to cool a political fever, and a hopeful summons to defend an imperiled democracy with a renewed and enlarged commitment to democratic action."―Atlantic "Mr. Tribe and Mr. Matz have written a powerful, clear and even-handed guide to the legal and political aspects of impeachment...[an] enlightening book. It is the definitive treatment of a vital subject and will remain so long after this presidency."―Economist"The most important book on impeachment in decades."―Jennifer Rubin, Washington Post "Right Turn" "With wisdom and lucidity, they explain the origins of impeachment in the U.S. Constitution, exactly how it works, and what criteria should be used in evaluating whether impeachment is called for."―Washington Times"A comprehensive, restrained, and indispensable resource on the powers and limits of impeachment... an eminently comprehensible, thorough legal, historical, and political text, a must-read guide for navigating the choppy and turbulent waters facing President Trump and the country in the days ahead."―Jewish Week"Tribe and Matz provide a fair, balanced, and relevant examination of an often misunderstood function of our national government."―Booklist"Impeachment is a fearsome power. This bracing, restrained, and fiercely judicious account of the process's origins and purpose explains why no U.S. president has ever been removed from office by impeachment, and what it might mean if one were."―Jill Lepore, author of the forthcoming These Truths: A History of the United States"'Impeachment is neither a magic wand nor a doomsday device.' So write Laurence Tribe and Joshua Matz in this deeply informed, even-handed look at how a president can be impeached and what the consequences would be. This book is essential reading for anyone who cares about the future of our democracy in the Age of Trump."―Max Boot, senior fellow, Council on Foreign Relations, and bestselling author of The Road Not Taken"Very few books are accessible to a wide audience of lay people and experts, written compellingly and reading easily, while also having depth, insight, and deep scholarship. To End a Presidency is one of the rare ones. Laurence Tribe and Joshua Matz have given us a thorough, lively history of presidential impeachment, enriched with strong legal and political analysis, fair-minded and thoughtful without being bland. This is an important, timely, and extraordinarily useful book at a critical time in American politics."―Norman Ornstein, resident scholar, American Enterprise Institute, and bestselling coauthor of One Nation After Trump: A Guide for the Perplexed, the Disillusioned, the Desperate, and the Not-Yet-Deported

The history and future of our democracy's ultimate sanction, presidential impeachment, and a guide to how it should be used now

To End a Presidency addresses one of today's most urgent questions: when and whether to impeach a president. Laurence Tribe and Joshua Matz provide an authoritative guide to impeachment's past and a bold argument about its proper role today. In an era of expansive presidential power and intense partisanship, we must rethink impeachment for the twenty-first century.

Of impeachments, one Constitutional Convention delegate declared, "A good magistrate will not fear them. A bad one will be kept in fear of them." To End a Presidency is an essential book for all Americans seeking to understand how this crucial but fearsome power should be exercised.

Five Stars A well-researched and insightful read!Impeachment is a very drastic and far reaching in its effect on our Nation A very educated book on impeachment and its history in our country. Nice to read a book full of facts. This shows the value of having authors that are knowledgeable of what they speak. A lot of good info for anyone interested in the subject of impeachment. I feel much more conversant with the subject now. A perfect time to read a book on this subject.A thoughtful, informed treatise on presidential impeachment The authors concisely explain the process of presidential impeachment and go into detail on how it might (in my opinion, should) be applied to Donald Trump. Instead of a highly partisan diatribe, they offer an analysis of our past presidential impeachments, suggest parallels and dissimilarities to Trump's criminal and dangerous acts and then outline what we can expect next as more and more Trump "impeachables" are revealed. I highly recommend the book for those on any side of the issue to become educated on the immanent end of the soon-to-be-impeached Trump.

Author: David Allen Sibley
Published Date: 2014-03-11

Artist, writer, and naturalist David Allen Sibley is the author and illustrator of a series of successful guides to nature, including the New York Times best-seller The Sibley Guide to Birds. He has traveled extensively throughout North America and abroad as a birding tour leader and lecturer. Sibley has contributed art and articles to Smithsonian, Science, The Wilson Journal of Ornithology, Birding, and North American Birds, and he wrote and illustrated a syndicated column for The New York Times. He is the recipient of the Roger Tory Peterson Award for Lifetime Achievement from the American Birding Association and the Linnaean Society of New York’s Eisenmann Medal. He lives in Concord, Massachusetts.

“Undoubtedly the finest guide to North American birds.”—Guy McCaskie, Birding

The publication of The Sibley Guide to Birds, First Edition quickly established David Allen Sibley as the author and illustrator of the nation’s supreme and most comprehensive guide to birds. Used by millions of birders from novices to the most expert, The Sibley Guide became the standard by which natural history guides are measured. The highly anticipated second edition builds on this foundation of excellence, offering massively expanded and updated information, new paintings, new and rare species, and a new, elegant design.

The second edition of this handsome, flexibound volume offers a wealth of improvements and updates:

• All illustrations reproduced 15 to 20 percent larger for better detail.

• Includes nearly 7,000 paintings digitally remastered from original art for enhanced print quality.

• Expanded text includes habitat information and voice description for every species and more tips on finding birds in the field.

• More than 600 new paintings, including illustrations of 115 rare species and additional paintings of common species and regional populations.

• More than 700 updated maps of ranges, showing winter, summer, year-round, migration, and rare ranges.

• 85 bird family pages now cross-referenced to species accounts.

• Revised taxonomic order and most current common names for every species.
The Sibley Guide to Birds, second edition, brings the genius of David Allen Sibley to the world once again in a thoroughly updated and expanded volume that every birder must own.

Gorgeous illustrations. Excellent Book.Small Font Size.Arrived damaged but that's not a reflection on the SIbley Book. The illustrations are beautiful.. They are more detailed that those in the "SIbley Field Gude to BIrds of North America" .I debated between 5 stars and 4. I would give it 4 &1/2 stars if that were an option. My problem with the book is that the print and illustrations areextremely small. I can not read the print or see the illustrations clearly even with trifocals. I am shopping for magnifiers just so that I can read this book and see the illustrations clearly. If this were any other book,I would return it based on the tiny print size. However, the illustrations are so gorgeous that I am going to look for magnifiers.I did receive the July printing (the second printing of the second edition.)Note: I received FOUR damaged Sibley books from Amazon.I had ordered new Sibley books to replace the first set, which had arrived damaged. The second set arrived with more damage than the first one.I am not lowering the rating based on this, because this is a review of the Sibley Book, not of Amazon's packing practices. I would recommend that people go to a bookstore,or order this from Barnes & Noble or another seller. My friend, who orders books from Barnes & Noble online, said that he has never received books in this condition.Wait for a better printing Sibley's First Edition is my birding bible. Sadly, the font chosen for this edition is so thin I find it unreadable with normal reading glasses. I have no such problem with the First edition. Also, colors are so saturated they are misleading in some species, especially with reds. These problems are a huge disservice to David Sibley's outstanding artwork. I am returning it, as the delicate text is unreadable, making it useless to me, and I imagine to many folks over 50. A huge disappointment, as I'd looked forward to Sibley's new plates and the expanded information in the text, but I can't read it without a magnifying glass! A big mistake by the publisher. I regretfully caution folks who need reading glasses to wait for a better printing. The second printing (July 2014) corrects color and print issues making this an excellent follow-up to the first edition. **UPDATE 2**I have purchased the second printing of this second edition and I am very happy with the corrections. The richer colors add new life to Sibley's paintings, the text is clear and easy to read and the layout is much improved. Page space is better utilized in this edition, allowing Sibley's beautiful illustrations to take center stage. The only caution I add is that, to my knowledge, there is no way to know what printing of the second edition you are purchasing when ordering through Amazon.com.**UPDATE**The second printing has been released and should be available at brick & mortar book stores as well as a number of online stores. Hopefully Amazon will make a distinction between the first and second printings so that its customers can order the correct one. In case there is no way of knowing which printing you are buying from Amazon, I offer the following 2 options:1) Go to a brick and mortar book store and physically purchase the guide. You will want to turn to the copyright page and look for "Second printing, July 2014". If it says "Second Edition, March 2014" then you are holding the first printing with the off colors and light font.2) Go to an alternative online source such as Buteo Books, where the second printing is in stock, available for shipping and it is specified as the second printing. They even have the option to buy the first printing if one is so inclined. When I obtain the second printing, I will update this review. So far, I have heard good things: the font is readable and the colors are more representative of what one would see in the field. I'm looking forward to this second printing!**A very annoying feature of this guide is the font. Not the size necessarily, but where many of the bird illustrations are WAY too dark, the font is way too light and lacks contrast. I keep tilting the book to get a better angle as if the text is catching or reflecting light but it's not. I have great eyesight, but I find the text a strain to read. Many of the birds are too dark and the colors are simply wrong. This shouldn't be a matter of opinion. The book betrays itself with statements like "brilliant red" on the scarlet tanager when it's obviously showing dark red; "flaming-orange throat" on the blackburnian when it's dark orange; "bright orange-red bill (never as dark red as many Caspians)" on the royal tern, well it's not bright and when you flip to the Caspian it's almost the same color! The orange-crowned warbler is green, the hooded warbler has a highlighter-yellow face, the baltimore oriole's orange is more like an american robin's red and there are many more disappointments. Some of the bird's faces are so dark that you can barely discern any detail. Sibley set the bar and his second edition does not measure up.Update: Thank you to R. Matz for providing a link to an article from birdforum.net in which Sibley has stated in a Facebook correspondence "There are a few images (like the male Scarlet Tanager) that are obviously not OK and will be corrected in the next printing, but I think that involves a very small number of images. The font is another issue, and it's clear that too many are finding it hard to read. Tests are already being done to find a way to fix that in the next printing."Improving the readability of the text will be a major improvement. Along with the male Scarlet Tanager, I hope Sibley will fix color issues with the following birds:- Eastern and Western Bluebirds (too dark)- Orange-crowned Warbler (too green)- Blackburnian Warbler (make the orange "flaming")- Baltimore Oriole (brighten the orange)- Lighten some of the birds on which the facial features cannot be discernedI look forward to the next printing (which should be available this September)and the fixes it will offer. A "Thank you" to B. Walker for contacting Knopf to find out that a fix is in the works and that we should have a new print available to purchase by late Summer.

How to Win Friends & Influence People Download

ISBN: B0006IU7JK
Title: How to Win Friends & Influence People Pdf
You can go after the job you want...and get it! You can take the job you have...and improve it! You can take any situation you're in...and make it work for you!

Simon & Schuster Audio is proud to present one of the best-selling books of all time, Dale Carnegie's perennial classic How to Win Friends and Influence People, presented here in its entirety.

For over 60 years the rock-solid, time-tested advice in this audiobook has carried thousands of now-famous people up the ladder of success in their business and personal lives.

With this truly phenomenal audiobook, learn:

  • The six ways to make people like you
  • The twelve ways to win people to your way of thinking
  • The nine ways to change people without arousing resentment

    And much, much more!

There is room at the top, when you know...How to Win Friends and Influence People.

My eyes have been opened. I wish I had purchased this book sooner.Dale Carnegie's advice has remained constant and applicable across the years for a reason. It's simple and his techniques make perfect sense. If you're anything like me, you'll be kicking yourself when you see how you could have handled situations differently. I'm being transformed from a socially awkward, timid and defensive person, to someone that seems collected and confident. If you're having troubles in life and simply can't figure out what you're doing wrong, this is a fantastic place to start. Good luck on your journey!Changing my life. My Dad gave me a copy of this when I graduated highschool in the 90s but I wasn't "ready" for it yet, I don't even think I read it to be honest. Now I'm 37 and realizing that I've put my personal growth on the back burner for entirely too long. I had pretty much given up on making new adult friends. I had actually self-diagnosed myself with Asperger's because I was having such a difficult time trying to figure out why people (including myself) do the things that do. The realization that my marriage was being effected by my nearly empty toolbox of social skills promoted me to take personal responsibility and shoulder the blame myself for once instead of blaming everyone around me for everything. I grew up with a hypercritical Mother so I think I had promised myself that I would never be criticized again, even if that meant writing people off the instant I felt like I had made myself vulnerable enough to be hurt by them. I couldn't find the copy that my dad gave me so I ordered a new one and chapter 1 alone is changing the way I look at EVERYTHING. I've been plagued with mild depression/anxiety for 20 years and I'm realizing that I've developed some unhealthy defense mechanisms to cope with these issues. I never turned to drugs or alcohol, but the fortress-like walls I've constructed to deal with criticism (real or perceived) aren't much better for me. I've re-read and taken notes on the first section of the book several times now and my wife is noticing and she seems quite relieved, i had no idea I could impact another persons life so strongly. Like I said, I am only getting started with the book and it has already helped me enough to warrant a 5-star rating. This book has stood the test of time for a reason and I can see why now. The strategies are applicable to and helpful in all aspects of my life so far, from my marriage to my job, and even to the way I interact with clerks in gas stations. I've read numerous self help books in the past, seen a therapist for 3 years, been through the gauntlet of antidepressants, etc, and until now I thought I was wasting my time. I've been learning things all along, but I never learned how to actually apply the things I had learned until now. This book speaks my language and if your background sounds even remotely similar I have a feeling that you'll agree.

Title: You Look Like a Thing and I Love You Pdf How Artificial Intelligence Works and Why It's Making the World a Weirder Place

"If you're terrified that artificial intelligence is going to take over the world, you clearly haven't asked a computer to write pick-up lines, name pets, or do anything else social or creative. Janelle Shane has, and she's the perfect tour guide to explain what machine learning can and can't do--and why it's already affecting your life. I can't think of a better way to learn about artificial intelligence, and I've never had so much fun along the way."―Adam Grant, New York Times bestselling author of Originals"An accessible primer... illustrated with charming cartoons, oddball case studies (self-driving cars in Australia were confused by kangaroos), and wry observations about the often-hilarious failures of artificial intelligence to comprehend human contexts."―Publishers Weekly Janelle Shane has a PhD in engineering and a masters in physics. Her graduate research was in the applications of high-powered lasers, and as her day job, she designs artificial reality for insects. In her spare time, she experiments with training an AI to understand humans. She lives in Colorado.

A hilarious look under the hood of artificial intelligence, the technology that's changing the world--and why it's more clueless than we think.

A.I. is everywhere. It powers the autocorrect function of your smartphone, helps Google Translate speak every language, and interprets your clicks and Likes to determine which of your friends' Facebook posts you most want to see. In the coming years, it may perform medical diagnoses and even drive your car. But how does it really work?

A.I. researcher Janelle Shane has taught A.I. to tell knock-knock jokes, design the perfect sandwich, and even flirt with humans. (The title of this book was her algorithm's idea of a perfect pick-up line). Through her hilarious experiments and surprising anecdotes, she does more than just demystify A.I.--she gives readers the tools to understand what it's good at, what it struggles with, and what it gets catastrophically wrong.

A hilarious, accessible primer on the cutting-edge technology that will soon power our world, You Look Like a Thing and I Love You is a fun and transporting journey into the minds of our robot overlords.

Soulsmith Pdf

ISBN: B07XTPNK9X
Title: Soulsmith Pdf

Outside Sacred Valley, ancient ruins rise from the earth, drawing sacred artists from miles around to fight for the treasures within.

Factions rise and fall as warriors bicker over rare resources, but time is limited. A powerful family from the Blackflame Empire is coming to claim the ruins, and when they arrive, no one else will have a chance at the prize.

Lindon has reached Copper, taking the first step on the road to power, but the warriors of the outside world are still far beyond him.

To advance, he turns to the arcane skills of the Soulsmiths, who craft weapons from the stuff of souls. With new powers come new enemies, and Lindon soon finds himself facing an entire sect of Golds.

Intricate Magic set in an Immersive World Will Wight gives us an amazing read in Soulsmith. Wight’s brand of fantasy is heavy on magic, giving us an intricate and fascinating magic system with plenty of depth. He also gives us a coming-of-age heroe’s journey. All of this is set in a well-developed non-western secondary world. It’s so much fun to read, and for fans of hard magic systems it’ll really hit the spot. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of magic in fantasy. On this front Will Wight delivers so well. Magic plays an incredibly integral role to the plot of Soulsmith. Lindon, our MC, continues his journey—which began in Unsouled—to become a better, more powerful sacred artist. One of the things I really appreciated about this sequel is that Wight didn’t rush things. It would have been easy to see an explosion of power for Lindon, but he continues to struggle as a comparative weakling. This gives us plenty of glimpses into Lindon’s character and it’s wonderful to see his development and growth. Even more, however, is the growth we get to see from Yerin. In fact, if anything has drastically improved from the first book in this series, I would say it is the characterization of secondary characters. Lindon has always been interesting. Wight is now building an entire cast of interesting characters and I can’t wait to see where they go and how they develop in the rest of this series. Any time you can give me intricate, interesting magic and a cast of fascinating, developing characters I’m all in. Wight has done that in spades here, and set it all in a unique world. One aspect of the world building I enjoy is how so much revolves around honor. Often fantasy worlds tend to take a guilt/innocence view of the world, much like the majority of western society. To see a tale told in a world that focuses much more on honor/shame is wonderful.I don’t have much to criticize with this book. Almost everything worked for me. There were a few moments, particularly toward the beginning of the book, where the action slowed down a little. These didn’t last very long, however. I also felt that the book may have lacked a little bit of a plot unto itself. It is obviously a middle book of a series. These are all very minor criticisms and they did not significantly impact my enjoyment. Will Wight’s second book in his Cradle series is excellent fun, heavy on magic, and begins introducing a wider cast of characters that I’m sure will play a larger role as the series progresses. It’s well done all-around and a wonderful read for those who thoroughly enjoy hard magic systems.4.5/5 stars.5 – I loved this, couldn’t put it down, move it to the top of your TBR pile4 – I really enjoyed this, add it to the TBR pile3 – It was ok, depending on your preferences it may be worth your time2 – I didn’t like this book, it has significant flaws and I can’t recommend it1 – I loathe this book with a most loathsome loathingThe Cradle Series Continues to Impress You are my favorite writer. Never stop writing and I promise to buy every single book you write. This was an excellent addition to the Cradle Series. I was worried it was going to be a little short, but this was a fantastic continuation to a new series. I was impressed and cannot wait to read more of Lindon's journey. My only critique would be that this story felt a lot like we were losing Lindon's perspective. You spent a lot of time setting the scenes and the tone of what was happening around everyone (you are a master at that, I always feel in the middle of your stories), but I felt that every time we got a piece of Lindon it was rushing him into the next thing. My favorite part about Cradle was seeing his version of events, his voice, his immediate + longterm thoughts etc. Don't lose the voice just to increase novel volume! That being said, please release of Killers and Kings/ of Kings and Killers yesterday...Wight is like that friend who says they're going to be a famous rapper... ...except if instead of stringing together bad rhymes he wrote books. And instead of sucking he...didn't suck.I'm not sure where this guy came from. I bought house of blades because Amazon told me to and it cost less than a McFlurry. That series fell before my late night reading technique like 12 year old Bieber fan getting run over by the tour bus. Cradle came next and his writing has clearly advanced. He seems to write a book in the time it takes to stand in line at the DMV, so I assume he is a disciple of Sanderson. Or he speeds a lot. Doesn't matter. The unique magic systems, pacing, clear story arcs and vivid imagination pisses me off. Because I thought one day I could publish a book on Amazon and call myself an author. Then this sack of hammers comes along and sets STANDARDS, totally ruining my plans. Also, his pricing makes me suspicious. If I get 6 hours of reading time out of a book it should at least cost enough to let him upgrade from the dollar menu to a combo meal. Seriously dude Mountain Dew code red can't keep you going forever. Send me your address and I'll mail you one of my mom's quiches.

Edward Abbey's Desert Solitaire, the noted author's most enduring nonfiction work, is an account of Abbey's seasons as a ranger at Arches National Park outside Moab, Utah. Abbey reflects on the nature of the Colorado Plateau desert, on the condition of our remaining wilderness, and on the future of a civilization that cannot reconcile itself to living in the natural world. He also recounts adventures with scorpions and snakes, obstinate tourists and entrenched bureaucrats, and, most powerful of all, with his own mortality. Abbey's account of getting stranded in a rock pool down a side branch of the Grand Canyon is at once hilarious and terrifying. The New Yorker An American Masterpiece. A Forceful Encounter with a Man of Character and Courage. The New York Times Book Review Like a ride on a bucking bronco...rough, tough, combative. The author is a rebel and an eloquent loner. His is a passionately felt, deeply poetic book...set down in a lean, racing prose, in a close-knit style of power and beauty.

Hailed by The New York Times as “a passionately felt, deeply poetic book,” the moving autobiographical work of Edward Abbey, considered the Thoreau of the American West, and his passion for the southwestern wilderness.

Desert Solitaire is a collection of vignettes about life in the wilderness and the nature of the desert itself by park ranger and conservationist, Edward Abbey. The book details the unique adventures and conflicts the author faces, from dealing with the damage caused by development of the land or excessive tourism, to discovering a dead body. However Desert Solitaire is not just a collection of one man’s stories, the book is also a philosophical memoir, full of Abbey’s reflections on the desert as a paradox, at once beautiful and liberating, but also isolating and cruel. Often compared to Thoreau’s Walden, Desert Solitaire is a powerful discussion of life’s mysteries set against the stirring backdrop of the American southwestern wilderness.

A Masterwork of Nonfiction Desert Solitaire: A Season in the Wilderness by Edward Abbey has a much deserved reputation of being one of the finest book written about the American West. Abbey spent time as a park ranger in Arches National Park in the late 60s, and in the process, traveled all around southern Utah and northern Arizona. This book is the outcome of that stay, yet it is so much more.Abbey uses this book as a platform not only to make observations about the geography, fauna and flora of Utah, but as a place to vent his spleen at the destruction of the natural world, and the dehumanizing nature of our society. The book is also filled with humor, pathos, and great sensitivity. His prose is elastic, conversational at some points, poetic and profound at others.Desert Solitaire is a master piece of non-fiction. Abbey moves from topic to topic with ease. Each piece stands alone, but they are interconnected. In a relatively short amount of space, he writes strongly and convincingly about a host of topics. For this skill, we can forgive him his obvious misanthropy. He hates everyone.Enlightening Not much to add that has not already been written by other reviewers. An excellent book. A real classic. The book gives greater meaning to recent arguments regarding "roadless" national parks. It may be this is when/where the argument first started. Abbey's views may be a bit extreme, but his points of contention have likely lead to healthy compromises and positive outcomes. Those who were raised in the city that read this book may be enlightened, others may never get it. In the book, Abbey uses the term, anthropocentric. I had to look it up. I've concluded Abbey's book begs the question, "Are humans, due to their superior intelligence, entitled to forcibly control nature and alter natural processes, or should humans, like all other species, adapt and defer to the power and wonder of nature?"Being there... OK. To fully appreciate this accumulation of experiences and stories... you need to plan a trip to Southern Utah. ( Go during a "shoulder" season so you will not have too many crowds ). You really need to actually be there. To see the horizons and stirring landscapes. And you will need to let go of any preconceived attitudes about deserts - any requirements for 5-Star anything. Take this book along and read a few chapters each evening. And you will need to allow yourself enough time to just sit... listen.. and reflect. Visit Moab and the Arches N.P. and imagine how it once was not too long ago. Head off to Dead Horse Point and then down to the Needles area - both in Canyonlands N.P. If you can, camp for a night or two. Look for the La Sal Range on the eastern horizon. In this way, I think you will develop a better appreciation for Mr. Abbey's world. A couple of chapters might be considered a bit off point, but that's all part of the experience. So --- get the book, plan your adventure... and, if the Southwest is a new experience for you, I believe you will come back home with some remarkable impressions. All enhanced by "Desert Solitude".
